Rules of the Challenge!
Registration opens March 1st, 2024 and ends April 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM. No late entries will be accepted. We reserve the right to close registration at any time if maximum capacity is reached.
Registrations submitted without payment will be deleted.
Any style of music is welcome as long as it fits within the time frame. There is no repertoire requirement.
You do NOT need to provide a copy of your music for the judges. However, no photocopied music is acceptable for you to use during the event. Music that has been downloaded and printed from the web, authorized to your name, is allowed. Copying a page to avoid page turns is allowed if it is attached to the original sheet music or book. Memorization is optional but scoring consideration will be given for those who perform from memory.
An unusually large number of entrants may necessitate adjustments to the schedule. We reserve the right to make changes.
No photography, video recording, or use of electronics will be permitted in the competition hall. Violators of this rule will be disqualified.
No food or drink of any kind will be allowed into the competition hall. Violators of this rule will be disqualified.
The decision of the judges is final.
Categories & Fees
Entry fees pay for the rental of the venue, awards, insurance, and a small honorarium for adjudicators. All administrators and other personnel work on a volunteer basis.
Kinder Keys: Ages 5 -7 beginners. Three (3) minute time limit restricted to two pieces of music if they fit within the time limit. Entry fee: $40.00
Kinder Keys Festival Solo: Ages 5 -7 non beginners. Four (4) minute time limit for a single piece. Entry fee: $50.00
Festival Solo: Ages 5-18. All levels except beginners. Four (4) minute time limit for a single piece of music. Entry fee: $60.00
Festival advanced solo: Ages 8-18. For advanced students who would like more time. Six (6) minute time limit. Entry fee $70.00
Duets: All ages and levels are welcome. Any instrumentation is allowed, as long as one of the instruments is a piano or accordion. Five (5) minute time limit. Please enter your duet partner's name in the comments section when you register. Entry fee: $25.00 per person.
Accordion and organ: Accordion and organ students are encouraged to enter any of the categories above.
